Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
