American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, according to media reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific TV Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a party host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, such as:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is remembered by his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
