Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
