Similar to bad weather tore through the north-west the prior day, the home side blew the visitors away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing 3-0 triumph for their manager's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their leadership claims as they consolidated their place at the top of the table.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This outcome represented successive league setbacks for Skinner's side for the first time since last May, placing them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations severely dented.

The Red Devils' capability to juggle league and European football with a thin roster has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the UCL.
