Supporters Urge Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who breached a fence and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another comment on Instagram.
A number of fans also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two very different witches.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, earning a pair for best costume and production design.
