Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
